Local businesses are in the process of returning their ballot cards on the formation of a Carlisle BID – which will be funded by an annual levy paid by eligible companies.

Levy-paying businesses are being sent ballot cards from October 31 with recipients urged to cast their vote as soon as possible on the formation of a Carlisle BID – which could unlock at least £4.6 million for the city over the next five years.

The industrial action - the third of its kind in two months at the nuclear site - has been planned by the Unite union, with Cumbria Police notified that pickets will start at 6am and marches from 7am.
